Counselling and Psychotherapy in Reigate, Redhill, Merstham,Dorking and Horley area
Life can be challenging at times leaving us feeling stressed, anxious and overwhelmed so impacting our work, personal relationships and general well-being. Counselling can help when we are struggling to cope with challenges, such as loss, relationship difficulties, anxiety, negative thoughts, low confidence, depression, stress and low mood. Counselling/Talking therapy offers the space to talk with someone in confidence, without fear of judgment.
Reigate Community Counselling Centre was esptablished in 2012 to provide low cost and more affordable counselling to adults. We have a team of 17 Counsellors and can offer longer term counselling so allowing more time to understand the events, feelings and beliefs contributing to the problems you are facing. Whatever you are facing whether stress, bereavement, life transitions or other events. Reigate Community Counselling Centre aims to provide a caring, professional and affordable counselling/therapy service to improve emotional well-being, reduce anxiety, improve your relationships or find better coping strategies.
Counselling offers a confidential space to discuss your difficulties with compassion and without judgement. It is building trust in the therapeutic relationship which enables difficult subjects to be explored in a safe way. We often try to struggle on, maybe feeling that we should just "get on with things" or perhaps believing that counselling is an indulgence or we feel nervous about delving into past events. Our counsellors understand this and are there to support you in managing difficult feelings and develop greater emotional resilience.
Counselling offers confidential and non-judgemental support in understanding what may have contributed to those feelings. In addition to managing anxiety, stress, anger, low mood and unhlepful habits.
We all deserve to be the best version of who we can be and your counsellor will work at your pace and discuss your concerns to achieve your goals and improve your emotional resilience.

Our aims
Our therapists/counsellors are committed to make counselling/psychotherapy more affordable and accessible in order to advance the emotional health and general well-being of those in need within Redhill, Reigate, Merstham, Dorking, Horley and surrounding areas. They offer their time at a reduced rate to support the counselling service. We offer counselling for as long as our clients need to overcome and manage the issues that they are dealing with, usually up to a maximum of 2 years, although for most far fewer sessions are needed,
Listening to clients in confidence and without judgement is a key aspect of counselling /therapy. Our counsellors are fully qualified or nearing the end of their training. We use a variety of counselling approaches and are members of a professional body complying with a professional framework. Research indicates that it is the relationship, understanding and trust established between client and counsellor which enables a successful outcome to counselling rather than the model of counselling theory. In addition meeting with the same counsellor/therapist each week develops that relationship, understanding and trust.
Community focused
Reigate Community Counselling Centre is a self-funding, non-profit making organisation. Therefore, in order to achieve our aim of enabling counselling /psychotherapy to be accessible and affordable to all, we ask for a contribution to our costs based upon income and what feels affordable our clients. Generally our minimum fee is £20 and we use a sliding income scale to agree what is affordable but further concessions are possible where needed. We aim that no one is denied access due to cost and we discuss this at the time of calling.
We aim to make the process of booking straightforward. Once you call to request a counselling appointment we will discuss briefly what it is that has brought you to consider counselling and take some brief details. We can then also discuss availability and cost.
We may not be able to answer your call straight away but please do leave your name and contact number and we will return your call as quickly as possible. Every enquiry is handled sensitively and in the strictest confidence.
Our counsellors/therapists
Our counsellors/therapists work with individuals face to face and on an open-ended basis rather than a limited number of sessions. However where required by clients, we can agree a more limited time period. The number of counselling/therapy sessions will be determined by you the client. Counselling supports clients to work towards a more satisfying and resourceful experience of life and improved relationships. We understand and appreciate that each person's needs and life experience differs.
We will allow you the time that you need to explore what may have triggered or contributed to the difficulty that you are facing and the counsellors work with you to process the impact on your emotional health and relationships and to develop strategies to manage difficult feelings.
Our counsellors/therapists are trained in a variety of counselling styles. This enables us to offer a flexible counselling service and consider what may be the most appropriate approach for clients. Our counsellors/therapists are committed to on-going training in accordance with the guidelines of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy or a professional body of similar standing. This includes on-going training, confidentiality and ethics.
Our counsellors have a Christian faith or are understanding of such beliefs but the counselling provided is secular (non-faith based) in delivery and inclusive of all Faiths (or none), spiritual beliefs (if any), gender, or sexual orientation.
We are experienced in helping clients struggling with many life issues including depression, anger, anxiety, stress, low self-confidence , self-esteem issues, bereavement, relationship difficulties and life transitions, for example separation and retirement.
